Cook pasta according to instructions.
Add olive oil and chopped onion to a large skillet over medium /high heat, sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until the onions are translucent.
Add in the ground beef and saute until cooked through and no longer pink.
Mix in the tomato sauce, salt and garlic powder and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for a few minutes to let the flavors blend.
Add the pasta to the sauce, and gently toss to coat. Divide among serving bowls, and garnish with chopped basil.
